Procedures of installation of filegarden and its possible problems ... Try to follow the directory structure for first time installation : but you should be able to install a newer copy of filegarden over an older copy ... if dont feel like doing that , probably you can backup configuration files before you delete filegarden directories in your home directory and /opt dirctory ... these are normally with the directory name of "redstone" ... If you download filegardenx.x.x.tar.gz or filegarden-sourcex.x.x.tar.gz then you must unpack them from the parent-root directory of your disk eg. / /opt/ - redstone/ - etc-source/ ------> not needed if you don't want to compile third parties lib - FileGarden/ ------> needed for execution binaries - mainlib/ ------> needed for compiled runtime libraries - source/ ------> not needed if you don't want to compile filegarden Step 2. Put line this into /etc/ld.so.conf /opt/redstone/mainlib Step 3. Type ldconfig in your terminal and press enter Step 4. Put line this into your login startup script example : ~/.bash_profile export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/redstone/mainlib Step 5. Create a symlink from " /opt/redstone/FileGarden/filegarden-install " to " /usr/bin/filegarden-install " eg. ln -s /opt/redstone/FileGarden/filegarden-install /usr/bin/ Step 6. Logout your linux session( ** not X session ** ) and login again Step 7. Login as normal user , type " filegarden-install " in your terminal and press enter. This will install the program into your home directory. eg. " ~/redstone/FileGarden " Watch for errors in your terminal and send me an email if problems with libraries not found , runtime error , segmentation faults etc Step 8. Execute the command " ~/redstone/FileGarden/FileGarden " from your terminal. The above procedure should work , email me if i had left out something during the packaging of the program or you encounter any problem when installing and using of filegarden ...
